Dr. Dahlia Khajeei (dah-LEE-ya CAW-jhay; aka "Dee"; born September 28, 1988) (PhD PHHS, MPH, BSc, CUT, PROSCI, ECM Certified)—‘the Woman who broke omertà™,‘ is a Canadian doctor, and second-generation Canadian to Iranian parents.
Dr. Dahlia Khajeei, BSc, MPH, PhD PHHS (she/elle) obtained her Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences in 2010 from the University of Alberta and her Master’s in Public Health in 2014 from the University of Saskatchewan, where she finished her degree at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. She attained her PhD in Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Hannah Neufeld and Dr. Lorie Donelle in 2023. Dr. Khajeei’s research focused on the maternal health literacy of newcomer mothers by examining comprehension as a situated, sociocultural practice. Adopting methods from cognitive science, her research on maternal health literacy viewed information processing for its tight relationship between thought and the world, and loose relationship between language and thought.

Lived Experience
Dr. Khajeei has over fifteen years of experience in healthcare systems and academic institutions across Canada. Her particular specialities include health information management governance, health program planning, implementation, and evaluation, electronic health records, clinical information systems, health data integrity and quality, and healthcare quality and safety. Dr. Khajeei was also a Lecturer and Subject Matter Expert at e-Campus Ontario, Conestoga College, and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Her professional endeavours include the Centre for Teaching Excellence’s Certificate in University Teaching, PROSCI’s Change Management certification, and AIIM’s Enterprise Content Management certification. In her spare time, she mentors female scholars in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) who are navigating the transition from high school to university. Dr. Khajeei is a strong advocate for the health and educational equity of visible minority populations in Canada.
