Laura is currently completing her final year of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology with a Specialization in Life Sciences at the University of Prince Edward Island. Throughout her studies, she has been actively involved in research examining the effects of a maternal high-sucrose diet on microglia in the brains of fetal rats. Beyond academics, Laura is deeply engaged in campus life and holds an executive position in the Biology Society. She is also an active member of the Pre-Veterinary and Animal Welfare Society, reflecting her strong interest in veterinary medicine. Her passion for animal care extends beyond the classroom. She regularly volunteers at veterinary clinics, humane shelters, and a local wildlife rehabilitation facility. Additionally, she works at the local Animal Emergency Hospital, gaining hands-on experience in veterinary practice. Upon completing her degree in May, Laura aspires to further her education by pursuing either a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) or a Master of Science (M.Sc.).Outside of her academic and professional interests, Laura enjoys playing the piano, knitting, crocheting, and reading.
